Yes, that's right my friends. Football season is upon us. And I couldn't be more ready. I've mentioned before (in a type of rant I believe), how much I LOVE football season. College is the best, but I also enjoy Sunday NFL. Especially when it's really Fall and crisp outside. I realllly hope our fall is crisp and not soggy this year. :) Especially since I'm carrying around a few extra pounds this year. And not to mention that my husband is planning on dragging my pregnant butt to Auburn and SMU this year for ASU football games. I told him I'd go as long as he doesn't mind me stopping to pee about 10 times or more! I want an ASU jersey to wear to games this year, but can you IMAGINE what I'll look like?? I'll look like one of those big lineman that are usually only good b/c their bellies are big and could do serious damage to the quarterback. We'll see I guess....
I think I partly enjoy football season, because I remember years and years of my dad watching the Cowboys every Sunday with my brother, and eating popcorn. These were the days before microwaveable popcorn mind you. We had one of those popcorn poppers when the thing would slowly turn circles under the kernals until all would pop. Then you'd turn it over and the top would become a bowl. Funny how I remember stuff like that. Now my parents have graduated to microwaveable, and I guarantee that earlier today if you traveled to Alma, you'd see my dad, in his chair, eating popcorn, and watching football. Which is exactly what I'm doing now. I've had some abdominal pain today though, which I believe to be ligament pain from what I've read. That crap hurts! I took a nap for a while and I'm trying to take it easy, mostly b/c it just feels better when I'm sitting down. Comes and goes when I'm standing. Anyone recognize that (female readers obviously)?
We had a GREAT sermon today at church. David Nasser was the guest preacher and was awesome. I'd heard him before while at ASU and remembered him. That's how anointed he is. He spoke out of Isaiah 6 and recognizing the Holiness and awesomeness of God. Something that most of us need to hear every once in a while. At least I do.
Well that's about it. I told you there's not alot here going on. Tomorrow is work and that's not fun. But I'm thankful I have a job at least.

Friends :)

I was listening to KLOVE today and heard that it was National Friendship Week. After checking to make sure I heard correctly, I learned it is indeed this week - 8/15-8/21. That made me smile :), mostly because I like to think of different people in my life who are friends, of all different sorts. So, I decided to pay a little tribute to just a few people whom I have learned to love dearly over the years and have different relationships with. If you don't know them, well, can't really help you, other than to say you will probably wish you did ;p And of course, I can't name all my friends, so if you're not on here, don't get your feelings hurt. You know i love ya!

1. Angela- We met during orientation for graduate school, and I remember thinking "wow, what a genuinely nice person". I didn't figure she'd like me much, considering I'm quite opinionated and don't often keep my thoughts to myself (ya'll don't look so surprised). But for some reason, she continued being my friend, and the Lord really blessed our relationship over the years. We can go days without talking, but it's always awesome when we catch up. You agree ange? AND, she's one of my ONLY friends who doesn't get tired of Josh and laughs even harder the more he mouths. Doesn't get offended, but moreso eggs him on. That's a TRUE friend for those of you who know Josh (sabrina - any input??) Anyway, all that to say, Ange, i love ya, miss ya, and am DYING to drive up and meet your special little man. You're a true LIFE friend.
(anyone care to leave a comment on who your "life" friend is? thought that would be fun) GET A BLOG ANGE

2. Randi - we actually met a little over a year ago, while we were both walking our dogs. She lives in the back of our subdivision, and doesn't read this blog. Hmmm, I should probably tell her about it.... Anywho, she's another nice person, and we just started hanging out. Our husbands became friends, and our friendship has slowly progressed. Isn't it interesting how the Lord will bring people in your life when you need it and when THEY need it? It seems this is how this happened, and now we are both pregnant - she's 4 weeks ahead of me :) Isn't that cool??

3. Shannie (i know you love that) - Didn't have a clue who she was for several years, mostly due to Matt's weirdness. Okay totally due to him. Always heard lots about her, and when Matt finally made up his mind he loved her, I got to meet her, and we totally hit it off. In fact, before I ever met her, I asked matt what she was like and he said, "well, she likes target, old navy, and, well crap, she's alot like you!" HA So of course, I liked it when he married her so that I could have a friend in this fam. But I think we would have totally been friends if we'd met in college, don't you think Shan?

4. Weldie- i don't need much explanation here. Ya'll know I love him. He's the best!

5. All my ASU/college friends - I've known several of you for years and have loved staying in contact. It's been awesome to see what the Lord has done in so many lives and where He has brought us. Especially when Sab and I were the ONLY ONES who did NOT get married during summer 2000!! Or when Carrie, Scott and I had to sit by ole Stinky Breath on the 10 hour plane ride from Paris a longgggg time ago. You know, I don't like the thought of getting older, but I DO like the thought of so many friends gettin there with me..... hehehe

6. My sisters - I'm the middle of two girls, and though we used to fight like cats and dogs, we're the best of friends now. I HATE we live so far apart - Joy in Florida and Jenna in South Arkansas - but we talk often and I get tons of cute pics of nieces and nephews. I'll try to post a recent one of Joy's two kiddos. For those of you with siblings, especially sisters, don't you love the closeness of friendships within your fam. You can still fight and get frustrated with each other, but it doesn't last long and you just keep going. I love that

7. Josh - I'd feel wayyyy to guilty to leave him out, especially since he IS my best friend and all :) I'd always dreamed of marrying someone who would make me LAUGH, like, everyday. And he pretty much does!
We were in line at Mazzios one day, and he couldn't figure out what he wanted. Finally he stated in all seriousness "Well, I guess I'll HAVE to have the wings and just make a nasty fool of myself". I busted out laughing, and it took him a minute to realize how funny that was, then HE started laughing. Most of you may not find that funny, but that's probably why I married him. He's the best AND the love of my life.

Okay, I know that was long, but it feels pretty good typing out cool things about your friendships. Try it - if not, leave me a comment and tell me about a friend who's meant alot to you :)

Let's try this again...

Here I am striking a pregnant pose in Central Park

And the famous keyboard at FAO Schwartz, as played by Tom Hanks

Precious Andrew playing in the sand!

My mothership calling me home.............

UGH. Blogspot sucks sometimes. I had this long blog typed out, pictures "loading", and BAM - website froze. Oh well. I'll shorten it this time. We had a blast, did TONS of walking, drank lots of Snapple (strawberry kiwi is the best), and got delayed a few hours on Wednesday while trying to catch our flight from LaGuardia to Dallas to Pensecola. And this is BEFORE the terrorist plot - which, btw, makes me angry and I'll keep my thoughts to myself at the risk of offending lurkers who happen upon my blog. Needless to say, Gulf Shores was wonderful once we finally got there after leaving NYC, and I got tons of sugar from Andrew - who is an absolute DOLL! I hope my child is half as happy and easygoing as he is! Josh and I decided to drive back to Little Rock in our rental car - Chrysler Sebring convertible - and probably made the same time as if we'd flown back as scheduled. Weldie was very excited to see us as I was him! All of you non-dog people don't understand this, but I enjoy seeing my dog after several days away. Especially one as good as him. Even my in-laws talked about how good he is, and how we've done a good job with him. Of course, they MIGHT be buttering me up so they can keep baby red when s/he gets here!! haha Ok, i'll try to load some pics again. No nasty comments on how i look either people!

FINE

That's enough everyone! I'm NOT quitting - at least not yet. I really like my job, but there seems to be "seasons" of difficulty and hard decisions recently. It really sucks sometimes, but it's fulfilling at the same time. It's not necessarily a field that is flooded at this time either.

I went to the doc today and heard the heartbeat. It was about the same as last time - 152-153. Mom says it's a girl, but who the heck knows at this point! We find out August 31 at 1:00. I'M SO READY!!! Everything looked good, so we were very thankful. I love hearing the heartbeat!! That's the coolest thing! We'll be leaving Saturday for NYC, then meeting up w/shan, matt and andrew on wednesday in gulf shores. I'm ready for a vacation! So my blog will be dead for a few days. Shan, I told josh he needed to take a quick pic of me so if he does, i'll post it later. but i must warn you, it's 920 pm and I'm not looking so pretty!!

This is Josh and I now know the password so this blog will be REALLY good now. But I had to share some news that is just unbelievable to me. I think i posted a long time ago that one of my clients is pregnant again, just 4 weeks behind me, and currently has a 6 month old. She has no business having even one child, much less being pregnant again. However, I went with her to her OBGYN appt today (since the father of her child(ren) is a total loser and wouldn't take her), and we found out she is having TWINS. yes, TWINS. i just about passed out. She's in her 20's, has a mental illness, and only brings in $600/month. She has zero family support and as i said, he does nothing for her except stress her out more. And I admit, that in my head I was saying, "Lord, WHY?? of all the couples who want children and can't have them, you give her TWINS plus one??" Her current child will be turning 1 when these are born. I'm literally sick to my stomach. I try to talk to her about adoption but she won't do it. Says she has to keep them. I called the office today and told a couple of my co-workers who are Christians, and we've decided to pray that God will change this situation for the benefit of all of her children and herself, such as adoption. She has done a good job with her current baby, but seriously, I couldn't take care of a 1 year old and twins w/ NO HELP whatsoever!! And i dont have a mental illness..... at least not yet.
Oh those poor precious babies. I'm not sure how much longer I can last at this....

Good one today

I won't complain today. I know ya'll are getting tired of hearing my gripes about my job, so I'll do my best today. Thankfully, I had a pretty good day. I was able to get LOTS of paperwork done, which is fine with me. That means that no one was interrupting me - i.e. - no obnoxious clients or staff annoying me. Although Friday was another story. Ange got an earful of it Friday evening, after I called her about a manipulative client trying to pull a multiple personality episode on me. She said she was "billie jean" and was going honky tonky-ing. I won't go into any more, but let me tell you, it was ALL I COULD DO. The whole time, Michael Jackson was in my head....

I was lurking earlier off Shandra's site (on the left) and read Amy's site, where someone wrote a comment about hoping her baby boy doesn't have to wear tons of hogs stuff. She also wondered what was UP with this state and the hogs. Well my friends, I'd love to know the same. since I didn't have this blog last fall, I will give you fair warning before football season starts. I HATE THE HOGS. I'm an ASU fan since I am an alum, and we are Division 1 as well as UA. And now UCA is going Div 1, but will that make a difference?? NOPE. You will still only hear about this unbelievable monopoly called the Razorbacks. And mostly from people who NEVER WENT TO SCHOOL THERE. I think that could probably be my overall biggest lifetime pet peeve. I will rejoice in the day that Frank Broyles retires, since maybe his death grip on not allowing inter-state game play to exist.
You think that's bad - just wait til September...

A Plethora of Feelings....

Wow what a week! It's Thursday night and I'm exhausted. I last posted on Monday and griped to everyone about what a bad day it was. Well, it really hasn't gotten alot better. It's been busy, with a staff person really HACKING ME OFF, and all my clients going to hell in a handbasket with me unable to really do much about it. It never fails how I don't just have ONE who starts spiraling downward, but about 10 at least. And that's with a caseload of about 30-35. I'm just tired. Carrie, I'm thinking you'll get youre wish soon!! But, I guess I've been griping quite a bit, because my sweet hubby sent me a bouquet of star-gazers and calla lillies today, with a card that said "The best is yet to come..", reminding me that my forever "job" will be here in January, and this sucky one is temporary. They are beautiful, and I taped the card on the front of my computer monitor with my latest ultrasound of Baby Red. Who I think I've been feeling move more and more! I first noticed last Saturday morning when I was laying oddly on my stomach in the bed. I noticed a flutter on and off. Somehow I knew it wasn't gas, and for the next few days, I could feel it while on my tummy. Today tho, I think i was feeling it occasionally just sitting down. Everything I've read said lots of women start feeling it about now (16 weeks), and it is a distinct feeling, so I'm sure that's what it is. HOWEVER, I wonder if this means s/he's as hyper as it's daddy! That's ok though, I surely do enjoy feeling it!
I guess I'm going to have to take a pic for you guys so you can see the growth of the belly. It's really popped out in the past 3-4 days. I'd heard that it does that, but now I see what everyone means.
Anywho, I'm praying tomorrow is better, although I'm already dreading it.

Nothing really

well, as the title says, not alot going on. nothing really. i don't go to the doctor again til August 3rd, which i'm ready to go NOW. i like hearing the heartbeat. i heard it last time and it was around 156-157. all you moms out there, is that fast? my mom says it's a girl if the heartbeat is fast, but heck if i know what fast is on an unborn child! i won't find out what i'm having until the appt after this one. yeah, i'm ready for that too :)

i had a pretty gross day at work today. It started out with me having to take a client to DHS (welfare office, basically) and sit there for about 2 hrs to help her with her food stamp appt. That could just about be one of the grossest places on earth. Not because of the office, but b/c of all the people that come in that have not showered in a few days, showing every God-given part on their body WITH all the tattoos, and with their poor snotty-nosed children. I'm not knocking people who need assistance AT ALL, but what I don't understand is why some people think trashy = poor. it so does NOT. especially in regards to those blessed children. ANYWAY, that's how my day started. In the middle, about 1130, something came over me and I had to puke at work! I did this same exact thing last monday - how FREAKY is that?? needless to say, i've not felt right all day. then, about 230, i had to help another client, who is pregnant AND has a 5 month old (!!!) clean her apt for an upcoming housing inspection! All that to say, i got home and went straight to the shower. I felt the nastiest I've felt in a while. Just grungy. I would've fit right in about 10 years ago in the "feels like teen spirit" generation!! lol

so i'm not looking forward to work tomorrow, because you never know what awaits you when you hit the door! OH good news on one side - the borderline client i've talked about several times - well, she's not really mine anymore. Praise the Lord. i couldn't take it anymore. She's basically lost all privileges of speaking to any staff besides our director, due to her manipulating, drug-seeking behavior. And I will not be taking her back no matter what. Our Old Navy doesn't have maternity (!!!!!) in the store, and some of the others are either expensive or look like something my mother would wear - now. I'm checking out Old Navy online since their shipping is so cheap. Anyone have any ideas for me? I've got to find some stuff before August b/c we're going on vacation, and I'm already needing stuff - especially capris and shorts. This is the ultrasound at 9 weeks, but i'm actually 14 weeks. We had our second visit today and heard the heartbeat, and got to have another ultrasound. I love going to the doctor! I'm due in January, and I've already had to buy a couple of pairs of maternity capris. My belly gets too tight in my pants after lunch, and I'm now starting to look a little pregnant. I must say it's kinda fun when you start to show!

Well, baby red is what kept me from posting more often, since I went the first trimester feeling pretty crappy. I'm starting to feel human again, but am still having heartburn and some fatigue. My job doesn't help either - Ange, remind me to fill you in on my latest borderline episode! Shan, now you can leave all you want about baby, pregnancy, etc.
Must get ready to eat dinner, now that I have an appetite!!

Wonderful weekend!

Hey guys! I had the wonderful opportunity to travel to Oklahoma City this weekend to hear Beth Moore on Friday night and Saturday morning. I think this was my fourth time to see her, and she gets better everytime I see her. The funny thing is, after each conference, I think "wow, she can't get any better!" And she does. This weekend, she talked primarily about trusting God, based out of Psalm 115 and using passages from Deuteronomy and 2Timothy. She had us privately identify 4-6 areas of our lives where we pretty much trust God. There's usually one or two areas that we don't trust Him with. It could be our marriage, finances, children, etc. Also, she went further to identify what our major fear/area of distrust it, and the kind of trust we have in Him. Is it saying "I trust that You won't let this happen to me" OR is it "I trust You will be with me and love me and take care of me if that does happen to me". Once we can say the second statement to Him, we are truly trusting God. That's a basic synopsis, but no where near as deep and convicting as she presented it. It hit me like a brick I'll tell you! It's easy to say, yeah I trust God, but do I REALLY?? It's not too hard to tell when you look at your life and see which area(s) you try to have under control and "in order".

ok now i'm going to gripe for a sec- There is a special place in hell for certain types of people ( i really believe this - that fires burn hotter) - and right now i hope they burn hotter for animal abusers and neglecters. We've got two precious stray dogs that wander in our neighborhood occasionally and I put food and water out for them, but I CAN'T STAND IT. I'd adopt them, but really can't right now. When i go out there if they're around, they won't eat b/c they want to follow me and want me to pet them. Of course i scrub my hands when i'm done, but i can't NOT give them attention!! boy how i'd LOVE to meet the person who own(ed)(s) them. That's all i'll say about that!!

sorry!!

yeah i know. it's been quite a while. we were gone this past weekend to dallas on a fun weekend trip with shopping and a Rangers game. and my weekdays have been pretty full. AND for some reason, blogspot will not load my blog on my laptoop. i can view it from work, but now from here. very frustrating! i can also view shandra's and everyone else's except mine. UGH. anywho, for those who would enjoy an update about my wonderful borderline client - she managed to get herself in the hospital in the middle of the night. only after calling yesterday to speak with my boss, mispronouncing his name, and slurring her words so HORRIBLY she was difficult to understand. hmmm, too much Klonopin anyone?? people who "want" help but continue self-defeating behavior DRIVE ME CRAZY. i won't go any further.

i WILL however mention another pet peeve of mine that many of my southern sisters will understand. you know that show on USA (i think) called the "closer"? well, kyra sedgewick plays a cop/interrogator who is supposedly southern. NOT AT ALL. she has this horribly fake accent that doesn't even sound real. hollywood gets on my nerves anyway, but why is the southern accent the hardest one to imitate??

this is for you ange!

Your 1920's Name is:

Maudie Pinkie

What's" Your 1920's Name?

Lots going on!

Whew! It's been a while since I've posted much, since Shandra determined that my little game links didn't count as updating (heffa). But it's been a busy week, and I've been tired when I get home after work, so I don't always feel like posting. Especially if there's nothing interesting to say. Not to mention the fact it's been so stinkin hot here, it makes me want to move to north AR with Ange!! This sucks, especially for Weldon, who drools even MORE when it gets hot. So nasty. I'm going to Alma tomorrow and will stay til Sunday for an early Father's Day, since we're going to Dallas on Father's Day weekend. And Josh has to work tomorrow, so Weldie will have to stay outside in 96 degree heat. Don't worry, I'll be filling up his swimming pool and he'll have lots of water. I do hate it for him tho :( But I'm glad my boy loves to swim. We were at the lake on Memorial Day, and Weldon got to swim off the shore, which he LOVES. He got a life jacket for Christmas from Bass Pro so he can swim longer and his mommy won't worry about him swimming too hard. He's quite the cutie in it I must say. For those of you who are unfamiliar with this disorder, check out this website for complete criteria: http://www.bpdcentral.com/resources/basics/main.shtml

Anywho, she has serious attachment issues, continues to complain about the same problems she's had for 15 YEARS, and continues the splitting behavior constantly. Lately, she's in the "i hate you" of the "i hate you, please don't leave me" part of BPD, and hates me now most of the time. I've learned alot about how to handle people like this, but let me tell you, her picture should be beside the criteria in the DSM-IV. She called me last week after she had gotten her self taken to jail for attacking one of her adult children, and had also taken too many of her meds (controlled substance). This has always been a problem for her which she refuses to acknowledge. I inform her I will NOT discuss this with her over the phone, that she must come in to discuss this with me. The next day she attempted to contact our executive director to complain about me!!! YEAH!!!!!!! The way i see it, everytime a borderline complains about me, that means i'm doing it right!!! This isn't the first time she's done this either - she actually REQUESTED another case manager about 3 months ago. kinda wish she'd gotten it! lol Anyway, ange, i'm sure you'll have some input on this one, seeing as how you're an LCSW now smarty pants!!!

One Happy Family!

What do ya'll think?? But enough about that, how's everything with ya'll? My life is pretty boring, and if you need evidence of that, I'm watching a rerun of Friends that I've seen for probably the thousandth time and laughing like I've never seen it! It's one with Rachel's sister, Amy who's incredibly self-centered. Cracks me up.

Um, well, that's about it. I just wanted to keep Shandra from leaving "zzzzzzzzz" on my comments for not updating in a while. Oh, I will recommend a website for anyone interested in checking out some cool artwork/gifts of a Christian nature - www.michaelpodesta.com He does Bible verses and such written in artistic ways. My sis got me one for Christmas that says, "You have made us for yourself Almighty God and our hearts are restless until they rest in You" by St. Augustine. I love it!

i'm soooooooo old

at least i'm FEELING old. i played softball the other night, and although I did pretty good (even slid into 3rd), i'm PAYING THE PRICE FOR IT. It's like my body is reminding me that I'm nearly 30. Well, in another year-and-a-half. It was very difficult walking in church in my low heels today. Our next game is next Tuesday, and unless there's some unforeseen reason I can't play, I'll be out there again. If i keep this up, maybe i'll get back to looking like i did at 17!

Ok, so i lurked onto a blog today off shandra's blog (jessica's if u want to go see it), and I read a statement she made about church signs. i was about to roll in the floor with laughter. josh and i HATE church signs. they're never good unless it's a Bible verse. There's a small, African-American church in the town next to ours that always has the most profound Bible verses. i love driving by that. but i DON'T like driving by the missionary baptist church close to our house that, i swear, must have a book with these sayings in them. i'll have to drive by in the next day or so and post what they've put on them. maybe that was cool in the 70's, but not now people!! churches need to be reaching the next generation, not scaring them off! lol

post if you've seen some good ones recently - oh and shan, put your name this time!

ramblings...

Not much going on around here, except that i'm OFF TOMORROW!!! yeah!!!! i'm pumped about that if you can't tell. I'd like to give a big ole CONGRATS to ange, who is now an LCSW as of Tuesday!! That means she passed the next licensing exam, which is the highest for the social work profession. It's common for people to not pass the first time, and she pulled it off!! so now i'm excited because I can now use her study materials. It costs $175 to take the test, so I can only take it once. WAY TO GO ANGE!!

Ummmm, I've decided to play church softball. Got the first game tomorrow night. I played in high school and was pretty good, but that's been 10+ years and I'll be nice and sore after the first game. Hopefully it's like riding a bike and I won't forget how to play!

Let's see.....we saw the FUNNIEST movie last weekend! Everyone needs to see "Benchwarmers". It's hilarious, PG-13, and some crude humor. Nothing too bad tho. No nudity, sex scenes, or anything like that. There's a couple scenes of gay-related humor, but it's so silly it's pretty funny. Of course, I'll probably be a benchwarmer in the upcoming games :)

Does anyone remember that forward that went around a few years ago about "you know you're a child of the 80's when..." ? Remind me of some in the comments section, or of course, leave your own thoughts of how you know you're a child of the 80's. I'll start....
-you remember and still have a few garbage pail kids
-you become sad when realizing all these "new" toys actually came from our childhood: My little pony, Hello Kitty, Sweet Secrets
- we didn't start the fire Billy Joel

Anyone else??

Hi!

Hi guys!! Apparently this is from a Beth Moore book "Voices of the Faithful", and thought it was very applicable to my life right now. Hope ya'll find it so as well!

"Many, O Lord my God, are the wonders you have done. The things you planned for us no one can recount to you; were I to speak and tell of them they would be too many to declare." Ps 40:5 (NIV)

Rain is depended upon in the jungle. WIthout it, wells will dry up, crops will die and the temperature will continue to rise. I have become good at predicting the weather in the jungle. If it looks like rain, it won't rain. If it doesn't look like rain , it will rain. When it does rain, if it lasts more than five minutes, it will rain for the rest of the day . If it stops before five minutes are over, it won't rain again until tomorrow.

One Sunday as I sat under the tree where we had church, my thoughts turned to the rain, or more correctly, to the absence of rain. I then realized that in the 14 months that I had lived in the jungle, no church service had ever been canceled for rain. I felt God saying to me Of course not. You meet under a tree. You can't have church if it's raining. I've got that detail under control.

What an amazing realization! It had never occurred to me that we had good weather for church, but God had been taking care of it . I never bothered to pray about having good weather for church. Yet God already had it under control.

When I think about what that means in the rest of my life, I am almost overwhelmed. God proves daily that He is ordering my steps and planning my days. If He takes that time to plan good weather for believers in the jungle who meet under a tree, won't He be planning my life and your life as well???

HAPPY EASTER!!

Happy Easter everyone!! This led me to thinking about how i'd LOVE to be one of those people who help people go shopping and especially redo their hair. I think if i wasn't a social worker, i'd like to be a personal stylist. Those of you who know me, stop laughing. I seriously think i could help someone find clothes and hairstyle to flatter them. Maybe not everybody, but i could learn. SO, if you could have any OTHER job than the one u have now (yes, stay-at-home moms count!), what would it be?? and shan, i don't want some cheesy answer like, "NOTHING! i LUUUUVVVVV my job as andrew's mom!!" :)

oh, and i hope everyone has a wonderful Easter, celebrating our new lives in Christ!

Long time, no write

Sorry guys! It's been a lonnggggg week. So much has happened, especially over the weekend. A couple of you may know this, but my younger sis suffered a miscarriage last week. She was 8 weeks when she lost it, but was 12 weeks when they realized it. It was very sad, and she was supposed to physically recover over the weekend. But on an even sadder note, her father-in-law died suddenly Friday night, which left Jenna and Andy with about 2 hrs of sleep and an exhausting weekend. I went to El Dorado early Saturday morning to keep the kids and stayed until Sunday morning. I have no reason to complain, given their circumstances, but I was exhausted! Her two are 3 and 19 mos, and will run you ragged!! SO, all that, plus my own personal emotional difficulty (no details on that one), I realllllly wanted to call in to work on Monday. But I didn't, and I'm feeling better today. Finally. Please keep jen and her fam, especially her mother-in-law, in your prayers. The funeral was yesterday, but any of you who have lost someone they love, you know it's not any easier now. Each morning, we get up, he goes out to potty, then comes in for his breakfast. I pour the food in the bowl, then I get the yogurt from the fridge, and give Weldie a tablespoon of yogurt. He loves to lick it straight off the spoon, then he eats his dog chow. So, today, I pour the food in the bowl, then get what i thought was the yogurt from the fridge. Weldie licks up the heaping tablespoon, I put the lid on the yogurt, and put it in the fridge. Once I shut the fridge door, I realize that the yogurt doesn't HAVE a lid, but one of those annoying foil lids. I open the fridge and say "weldie i'm SO sorry!!". He'd just had his first tablespoon of fat free sour cream! He wags his tail with his ears down and walks over to me, like he KNEW he'd just gotten away with something. He's probably thinking, "mommy, next time give me ice cream if you're going to mess it up!!"

needless to say, he didn't get yogurt this morning b/c I didn't want to upset his tummy. For those of you who don't know, weldie gets yogurt for the yeast infections in his ears. It has helped a ton! So try it if you have a dog with chronic ear infections!

This will be a long one...

Well, i decided to write about something more serious tonight. I read Jeff's blog several weeks ago, about the problem in many churches today. So many churches today are building huge buildings, putting in high-tech equipment, like tv's, projectors, sound equipment, etc. And when I read his at first, I couldn't quite figure out the intent behind the message, except that I know he's started a church in south Arkansas, which is anything BUT easy to do. But for some reason, I've pondered it off and on since then, and realized that I totally agree with the frustration it seemed he feels at times. Let me explain - We began attending a large, First Baptist church here ~1 1/2 years ago. We left our previous church in NLR for a few reasons, but mostly b/c it just got too far to drive. We felt the Lord leading us in another direction, and both prayed about where we should go. Reluctantly, we visited FBC and ended up loving the Sunday School class and the preacher (no comment on the music). And I was kind of surprised that we were lead THERE. We're not the typical "FBC" type, if you know what I mean. I guess I should have prefaced that with "given the traditional stereotype...". Anywho, regardless, we're here and have had the opportunity to sit under a wonderful Sunday School teacher who is very knowledgeable, AND who has won the respect of Josh (which is no easy feat). However, as I mentioned, I continue to be plagued with this whole mainstream idea of churches in America that use the approach of reaching out to more people in order to get more "things" for the church. This is often a wonderful idea. But I can't help but wonder how effective it really is if we're not getting involved in the DAILY lives of people. You know, really meeting their needs. AT the risk of sounding like Judas Iscariot, wouldn't the poor, sick, or at least our missionaries benefit more from the billions of $$ that churches spend every year on buildings and accessories? Making church attractive for "sinners" or the "unchurched" should be a small part of it, not the main focus. For too long, Christians have used the excuse of "being different" or "set apart" that we truly have become separate from non-Christians. Our SS lesson today, needless to say, was about how Christ ATE with the sinners and prostitutes. And WE'RE worried about messing up OUR reputation?? Believe me, I'm in no way pointing fingers, b/c I'm no better! Yes, my profession leads me into the poor homes of Benton, which is very often unpleasant. But does my love of Christ lead me there also? I'm ashamed to say that more times than not, it's the paycheck (how small it might be) rather than the pure and intense love of Christ.
I guess I had to just get that off my chest. That's not the only thing on it tho! :) I've been more and more convicted about how racist Christians can be as well. I went through a process through college (thanks to J & C Noble and social work program), that really caused me to dig deep about any racial issues that are there. Now I believe Josh is doing the same thing, praise God. We're doing a Beth Moore study at church- Breaking Free - and one of the video sessions was specifically about racism in the church. She made a very poignant statement about it, something to the effect of how, when someone begins to see themselves as Christ sees them - a sinner, deserving of hell but by God's grace saved from that - there's NO ROOM for racism. Because the basis of all racism, I believe, is pride. Somehow, we feel we're better than a particular race. And people who begin sentences with "I'm not racist but....." usually are. And anyone who says that they're not comfortable worshipping with another race because of "different styles of worship".... well, I believe there's more to it than that. As you can tell, THIS is becoming one of my soapboxes. As if I need another one. But I will say, and I truly believe, that Christians will answer to God one day on how we've treated those different from us. Regardless of what it is. And then how fun it will be to worship forever in eternity, standing next to faces of all different races.....

One of our little Dolls

I just had to show her off. First of all, for all you tv watchers, I'm just curious to know what your fave commercial is right now. If you have one that is. Mine is that VW commercial, with the guy dressed in all white trying to rap. He's supposedly German, and he says things like "drop it like it's hot" in this terrible accent. cracks me up... so what's yours?

Second of all, i need a little help from all you smart and/or professionals out there. (this means you ange). As I've mentioned before, i work with chronic mentally ill. About half of my caseload of 30 have or should have been diagnosed with Borderline Personality d/o. For those of you who don't know what this is, just think of someone you know who causes all the hairs on the back of your neck to stand up every time you see them. And when they leave, you realize the LIFE has been absolutely SUCKED OUT OF YOU. That's what i deal with everyday. This is my least favorite area of my job obviously. So my situation right now is, I've got a husband and wife couple who come in everyday to day treatment. She's not a problem, but HE drives me crazy. A total lurker (that was for you shan) - everywhere i go, he manages to appear. And he always wants something. We have a weekly meeting - every Tuesday - as i do with most of my clients. Most of my clients attempt to see me at other times of the week - which is fine on most occasions. But HE tries every day!! Usually stuff that can wait. The problem is also that he seems to think he's staff - above the other clients. Has entitlement issues. He's been a client for years, and has come a long way. And i think over the years, staff sort of catered to him, and now he expects it. I don't have any reason to cater to him. I'm pretty good at setting limits with people, but doing that with female clients is easier for me. For some reason, I think i second guess myself anyway, and with this guy and the favoritism issue, it's more dificult. Any suggestions??
(ps - weldie's xrays are tomorrow - pray for him!)

STOLEN

LOL - anyway, i lurked onto one of shandra's friend's (kristi's) blog, and "borrowed" this from her. i really liked it, since i'm a major dog person. for those of you who AREN'T dog people, WHAT'S THE MATTER WITH YOU?? ha and for those of you who are even worse - CAT PEOPLE - well, you don't have a chance. hehe

What Dogs Teach Us
If a dog was the teacher you would learn these lessons:
When a loved one comes home, always run to greet them.
Never pass up the opportunity to go for a joyride.
Allow the experience of fresh air and the wind in your face to be pure ecstasy.
When it's in your best interest, practice obedience.
Let others know when they've invaded your territory.
Take naps.
Stretch before rising.
Run, romp, and play daily.
Thrive on attention and let people touch you.
Avoid biting when a simple growl will do.
On warm days, stop to lie on your back on the grass.
On hot days, drink lots of water and lie under a shady tree.
When you're happy, dance around and wag your entire body.
No matter how often you're scolded, don't buy into the guilt thing and pout- run right back and make friends.
Delight in the simple joy of a long walk.
Eat with gusto and enthusiasm. And i thank Him for giving me a job to go to. But gosh, weekends just aren't long enough! i'd love to cut back to 4 days a week but i don't think my boss will let me. Maybe that's something I'll just have to ask the Lord for :) However, i did tell josh that come november, kid or no kid, i'm quitting. i need a break. ha

i am happy tho, that drew won Dancing with the Stars. I was also happy to see that TERRIBLE copa cobana guy voted off AI 5. what WAS that anywho?? very unacceptable i must say. the arkansas guy was just plain silly. glad he's off - not sure i wanted to claim him. so i'm rooting for patrick ( gray-hair) and elliot. can't decide on the girls yet. who do ya'll think?

Well, i guess i'll hush now. we had a busy weekend, both saturday and sunday, and i'm quite tired.

Who'll win??

Since there's so many contests/competitions going on, I thought it'd be interesting to see what everyone's opinions were on the following:

American Idol: (don't know yet but i like the gray haired guy)

Dancing with the Stars: (drew)

Bachelor: (is that over yet?? who's left??)

Olympic Ladies' figure skating: (i wish it would be kimmie or emily, but i fear Irina russian girl)

No laughing at me people!! Since the world wide web is so huge, it's impossible to know who and how many people surf to different blogs every day. So.....who's there? Leave me a comment and let me know. I think this will be fun, especially to learn where others are from! :) For those of you who ARE lurking and don't know me, Weldon (weldie) is my english springer spaniel. He's 3, liver and white, and a big ball of energy. Best dog in the world!! He's my only "child" at this point in my life. And he was named after my dad - it's his middle name. Honestly though, it should be named "dancing with D-list celebrities" or "dancing with has-beens". haha not to say i'm not a fan of Jerry Rice or Drew Lachey. but who are we kidding?? NONE of the "celebrities" have done anything noteworthy in quite some time. Then you have Lisa Renna (who i remember as Billie on Days of our lives), and all she kept saying was "i will be sooooo disappointed if i don't make it. I mean, we've worked so hard, and i'm come so far. I'll just be sooooo jipped if I don't get to stay...." and so on. Come ON lisa admit it. You're hangin on by a thread, and are afraid this is your LAST SHOT of tv stardom.
anywho (where did that come from??) thanks to that show, i'm now sitting here watching Ice Dancing on the olympics. Again there's nothing else on besides Numb3rs, and those actors are just terrible. Ok, so i'm sure SOME of u might say "jill, are there ANY actors you like??" and i'd answer, "ummmm not so much" haha seriously, can't think of any at the moment. i do like reece witherspoon, matthew mcc (who doesn't??), and the Friends cast.
as most of u can see, i'm pretty bored tonight. we're likely to get iced in tonight, so i may be posting more ramblings for your enjoyment pleasure this weekend. ANGE - hope ya'll don't lose power.
OH, maybe tomorrow i'll ramble on about all of the words that people misspell in everyday life that DRIVE ME CRAZY (e.g. - lose, loose)....

We're baa-ack

Well, we're back!! And unfortunately back at work! We had a blast at Shandra and Matt's this weekend, and stole all kinds of kisses from that precious Andrew! If there was a way I could've taken him w/me, I would have!! Josh would've let me too, b/c he's such a good baby. Anywho, we made good time getting home yesterday, and met my mother in-law at Chili's to pick up Weldie. She says he was a great boy and a pleasure to keep. Of course, I KNEW that ;p He's also not limping anymore. yeah!!

I have to tell what my wonderful hubby did for me today. I hope everyone has a thoughtful husband (or wife if any men are reading), and had a wonderful Valentine's day. Josh had already given me some awesome presents last week -including a Jcrew giftcard of a sizeable amount. We exchanged early b/c, well, neither of us can wait when it comes to giving gifts!! Anywho, I was back at work today, and it was a pretty good day. I had to go on a home visit, and got back to the office at 4. When I walked in, there was a HUGE bouquet of red roses on my desk. I later learned there were 50 roses in the very large vase!! He had a sweet card on it, and I was obviously very surprised. Of course, all the ladies in the office are like, "he's a keeper!!" and "you're so spoiled!!". i am NOT. haha j/k. He does do too much though, every holiday. So, Josh if you're reading (probably not), i LOVEyou and appreciate you babe!!

happy v-day everyone!!

Heard a great comment today....

I'm doing my best to not watch the grammy's right now. It's difficult I might add, since there's nothing else on TV. However, I decided to turn over to Fox News since it was time for Hannity & Colmes. I usually forget they're on during this time, but thankfully, the Grammy's forced me into it. haha They were interviewing two students from Northwest, where a tenured professor used the school's website to post his alliance with Iran's president and his statement saying the Holocaust didn't exist. These two students started a petition to have the university president take action against this jerk. Shawn Hannity was going OFF about this, and made a very profound statement. He said, "if he had gone on the website and stated slavery didn't exist, would he be fired??" I wanted to shout AMEN BROTHER!! i can't stand these ridiculous people who just ignore the facts to take another shot at the Jews. Oh well- they'll get theirs....

Josh and I are going to see the Houston Landrums this weekend. very excited about seeing andrew! (u too shan). However, I'm concerned about weldie. Back a few weeks ago, when we were keeping Daisy, weldie started limping on his back leg. we were going to take him to the vet, but after a couple of days, he got better. and xrays would've been $75. HOWEVER, just today, he started doing it again. favoring the back left leg. He doesn't wimper or whine, but it's definitely bothering him. And I'm not sure if we can get him to the vet before we leave (he's staying with my inlaws). I'm praying that he will get well enough until next week when we can get him to the vet. I'm going to get xrays now, even if he quits limping. I'm concerned it could be a more serious injury, rather than a pulled muscle like we first thought. Pray for weldie everyone!! I'm serious too- all u dog lovers know how they can be like our children!! weldie says thanks!!

day of mourning

i'm watching the pregame stuff right now for the superbowl, even though i'm in mourning for my teams that didn't make it. As always, and for anyone who knows me, the Boys should always make it. even if they suck. Legitimately tho, the Colts and Patriots should've been here tonight. who CARES about the seahawks and the steelers. couldn't care less here. and i love football!! mostly college, but some NFL. so i'm not sure why i'm watching this, but it was interesting seeing all the former MVPs announced from all the past superbowls. some good Boys - Aikman, Emmitt, Larry, Danny, Roger. i'm too young to remember roger, but i DO remember danny. and of course Troy - ahh Troy. Troy whose poster hung on the back of my closet door as a teenager. alright college student. OKAYY married woman. lol . seriously, as a teen. but if there was one on the back of my door, it would be of tom brady. who i'm PROBABLY OLDER THAN. how sad is that?? when i was little, these guys were like, sooooo old. even the college players. but NOW, i'm quite a bit older than a few of them. ugh
so whose poster would be on the back of YOUR door??
(aaron neville SUCKS. One of my four fave movies HAS to be Dodgeball. I forgot how HILARIOUS that movie is!!! For those of you who haven't seen it, go rent it. You'll probably want to buy it after you see it. I won't go into what my previous rant said, but I will take a minute to MAKE FUN of the ridiculous "stars" who have found yet another way to congratulate themselves on making ungodly amounts of money for memorizing lines, which Josh says he could do. For those of you who don't know, the award show tonight, the Screen Actors' Guild awards, is exactly what is says. The members of the SAG, all actors/actresses, nominate and vote amongst themselves. Is this not the epitome (sp?) of pride and patting each other on the back?? As if there's not enough awards shows for that. The funny thing is, they all vote Democrat, supposedly for social issues. Yet how many actually use their millions to help the poor, for whom they supposedly vote?? (other than angelina jolie). We all know they're voting on moral issues, even tho they deny it. Who the crap are they fooling? I find it quite ironic they're very quick to point fingers at our government for not doing enough, yet they never leave LA themselves. Wouldn't dare get they're fingers dirty....

ok, that's enough for now. Speaking of Hollywood, we're watching a pretty good movie right now, "Constant Gardner", which is interesting. Pretty sure there's a political agenda behind it tho. But it is a good movie so far.

Weldie says "hello" to everyone. It took a while, but after a couple of different times of cutting, they got it all! YEAH!! Thank the Lord. We of course, appreciate those of you who prayed for him before this. It was kinda unsettling knowing he had skin cancer, but thankfully, the Lord allowed him to have a good doc. I took off work originally for the morning, but decided Josh really needed me off for the WHOLE day......lol. So we've had a nice afternoon with Weldie, who was very glad by the way. He's got such a hard life. I went to the local meat market yesterday, and brought him a dog treat. It's these bones they sell for 99 cents, and he LOVES them. Keeps him occupied for days. Maybe I should get josh one of those......
Not much else is happening these days. Shandra-have fun flying with Andrew! He'll be fine. My older sis flew with both hers last summer (2 and 6mos) and did pretty good, especially flying from FL to AR, with a layover in Dallas. I think I remember her saying people were nicer, and more prone to help you out. Well, i should correct that to say, when i have nowhere to go. i started cleaning this morning at like, 900, and didn't finish til about 3. Since we finished painting last weekend and had another dog in the house, my house was filthy. So it needed some serious attention. I cleaned until i'm tired, and had Friends dvds playing on the TV. Weldie was the best boy - just hung out w/me all day. He would've helped me if he could've. I think he thinks he did, b/c he's konked out on his bed in our room, while I'm in the living room. That's unusual. But the best part was that i didn't get out of my pj's til 4, when i finally took a shower. Nor have i left the house today. i LOVE saturdays!! Don't you all wish you could see how pretty I've been all day :) ? I mean, I could've competed in Miss America tonight. lol Which, by the way, WHY are they still airing that on tv? I used to enjoy it, but the past few years, when I painfully turned the channel to the pageant, i noticed how bad the talent is and how fake the girls look. Nothing like I remember watching when i was a little girl. Oh well, go MISS ARKANSAS. lol

womenly men

i was talking with some friends today, and somehow we began talking about how womenly men can be sometimes. You know, needy, emotional, moody, etc. I mean, our mothers never prepared us for this stuff! So where does it come from? i'm not talking about any guy in particular. But it seems these characteristics are similar. I guess the breaking point just depends on how much you can stand of it! WE'RE the ones who are supposed to possess these lovely characteristics, aren't we?? Don't we have a copyright on them at LEAST?? What are we supposed to do about it anywho? Since my job change last march, i put up with ALOT of personality disorders - aka moodiness, manipulative behaviors, attention-seeking. SO, when i identify it outside of my work, my first notion is SUCK IT UP PEOPLE. i don't get paid for after hours work!!
hope this brought a smile to most of you! what do ya'll think about it??

FINE shandra!!

OK i'm finally updating. for my faithful few readers i guess!! Don't really have much to write about tho. Except that we FINALLY painted our downstairs hallway and powder room. Our hallway is now a chocolate brown, and a good friend of ours hung a chair rail in the powder room. So on the bottom half we painted it a bright red - LADYBUG to be exact. You would not BELIEVE the difference it made. Looks like a totally different house.

I'm watching the Golden Globes red carpet stuff, even though i have no intentions of watching the award show. It's kinda like a bad car wreck - i just can't help but look!! I DESPISE hollywood and how arrogant the "stars" are. When really, most are barely high school grads, who happened to be good at memorizing lines, and suddenly they're smarter, prettier, more talented than everyone else in America. OK, so truthfully, I used to just roll my eyes at how arrogant they all are - that is, UNTIL the elections rolled around. And they used they're money and so-called influence to trash our President and his cabinet with pure hatred. And we all know it was all b/c of moral issues. If they voted on issues like the economy, they'd voted for him. Shows how stupid they are. One last thing - the ones who aren't even AMERICAN that think they can bad mouth our President realllllly hack me off. Who do they think they are anyway?? GO HOME.
sorry for that rant. Where did that come from?!? Wonder how many "anonymous" random people will leave nice feedback for me??? lol

Blah Blah

So a funny thing happened to me at work today...... (lol). I was in group, and the group was discussing a sad event in one of the member's life. He had mentioned that one of his parents would likely not make it through the year, and the group members were responding empathically and supportive of him. That is, until this one particular member decides to change the subject, with "is anyone else having trouble sleeping?" This is not unusual for this member, who is UNCOMFORTABLE to say the least if all the attention isn't on him. I allow the group to address his situation briefly before returning to the topic that was already established. It was clear by his complaints, that he was a) lying and b) wanting to start a fight. So, when I return our attention back to the previous member, the attention-seeker gets mad and leaves the group. THEN, he goes to my boss to complain. I heard the entire conversation, and just like a good ole' antisocial, it's EVERYONE ELSE'S FAULT. Of course, I address it with my boss later who gave no regard to this member's complaints. Does anyone know someone who has to have ALL the attention and is uncomfortable until they get it, and anyone else who cannot take responsibility for their problems, misfortune, etc. Shandra, THOSE are my pet peeves. Oh well, welcome to the world of mental illness.....

Ok, i know lots of people are into reality TV. Me? not so much. Unless it's American Idol or America's Next Top Model (did i just admit that?!?) I do enjoy my occasional teen dramas, reminiscent of "90210". Isn't it funny how these shows try to act so original, when all they REALLY are, are spinoffs of Kelly, Brenda, Brandon, Donna, David, and Dylan. However, I also recommend "mythbusters" on discovery channel. Very interesting, even if i am a little dorky.

Working again :(

Yes, unfortunately, I returned to work today. Not feeling much better, mind you and actually sounding a little bit like Kathleen Turner (aka - Chandler's dad). The weekend was nice tho, as I had the opportunity to visit with my old friend, Kendy. We lost touch after we got married, due to schedules, new husbands, and mainly growing into two different people. But thankfully, God is good, and she came to see me yesterday. We had a blast! It was like we were in college again. Laughing and chattin up. I realized how much I had missed her. You ever have one or two friends who just "know" what you're talking about. Like, if you're somewhere and see something (usually someONE) that is incredibly funny or at least deserving of a comment and wish your friend was there to laugh about it with? Well, that's Kendy and Ange ( my OTHER friend like that who is a traitor and moved to harrison). I miss them both and wish we all lived next door to each other. How fun would that be?? Maybe our mansions (mine will be a shack) will all be next to each other in Heaven.
Well, that's about it for now. I'm watching my Felicity rerun and am about to have dinner with the in-laws. Their bringing my picnic table that they got me for Christmas! I decided I would call in sick, for the FIRST TIME since I've been at this job - almost 10 months. I hate calling in sick if I'm not running a temperature or vomiting. BUT, since all my co-workers call in sick all the time, usually with female problems, I decided a stuffy head and poor sleep was good enough. I must say, i realllllllly like being home an extra day. JOSH - are u listening?? :p Weldie likes it too. He hangs with me everywhere I go, and I've gotten to do things I haven't gotten to do yet - like put pics in the wood gallery frame my hubby got me for Christmas. very cute. Hopefully i'll also be putting on the new duvet that I got for christmas too.

OK, so I'm watching a baby story on TLC right now, and this woman is giving birth to her third child and NOT GETTING AN EPIDURAL. It's seriously freaking me out. and her baby weighs like 8 lbs 14 oz. Can you imagine?!?! I'm also amazed at how they show so much on TV by blurring out the bare minimum. know what i mean?? gross.

One more thing- HAPPY BIRTHDAY RUSSY!! wish i could be there. have a fun party!!

EXHAUSTED!!

WHEW! am i tired?!?!! we've been in alma this weekend, having "christmas" with my side of the family. My older sister and her fam made it sunday afternoon, so it has been crazy! The only ones missing were my brother and his family. There was no lack of excitement though!! Both sisters have 3 y/o boys, and 1 y/o girls. I got lots of hugs and kisses ALL weekend!! (especially from the girls who are both living dolls!!). I hate living so far from them, b/c it makes me sad when i have to leave them.
Shandra asked on her blog about what our new year's resolutions were. You know, i have NO idea. I don't make them, mainly b/c i can't REMEMBER them after i've made them!! I WOULD like to work out more, but since i refuse to pay money for a gym, I guess that means more walking for weldie and me!!
Speaking of weldie, he stayed at his girlfriend's house all weekend - Daisy Kennedy, a sweet german shorthair. Big kudos to the kennedys for keeping our slobbery boy this weekend. They've got a baby boy born in October, Mark, who is fluffy bundle of joy. He's a doll!! What nice friends we have to keep our dog when they have a baby!!

Well, guess i'd better do more laundry. Hope everyone has a wonderful new year!! OH - Chris L- thanks for the $1. I'll enjoy my "chicken strips" :P

jill

Happy anniversary to me!! (yesterday)

Yesterday was our 3 year wedding anniversary!! i can't believe it's already been 3 years. It seems like yesterday we were walking down the aisle. Lots has happened since then. Weldon joined our family, we bought a house, Josh graduated from pharmacy school, and moved to Benton! We went to see Beauty and the Beast at the Rep last night, and it was PHENOMENAL!! It was a musical of course, and was so much fun to watch. We decided it was a tradition, since starting with our honeymoon when we saw Phantom of the Opera on Broadway, our first anniversary saw Lion King in Memphis, went to Murray's Dinner theatre on our second, and Beauty and the Beast on our third. Never knew we were so artsy and weird huh?!? Ok, no comments on the weird part MATT. lol
Josh bought me a very pretty wedding band for our anniversary. It's white gold with three diamonds in the middle. He gave me a dozen roses, but when I was smelling them, I noticed that one of the roses was velvet. THEN I noticed it had a horizontal line across it and realized it was a ring box. How cool was that?? He totally surprised me with it. I was happy with my regular band, but this is much prettier. He likes giving me bling. :p
We're having Christmas with my family this weekend, and my older sis and her family will hopefully be coming up this weekend. It will be wonderful to see them, since they live in Florida and I MIGHT see them once a year. My brother, however, is a loser and doesn't want to travel to see us (just kidding jay!).
Well, I'm at work (on lunch) so I'd better run. I don't think blogging is in my job description!!
j

<link rel='alternate' type='text/html' href='http://weldiesparents.blogspot.com/2005/12/happy-anniversary-to-me-yesterday.html' title='Happy anniversary to me!! Well, Josh is getting ready. I'M ready. We had a fun Christmas, and Josh's parents spent wayyyyy to much money as usual. But is sure is fun getting lots of stuff!! I must've been a good girl this year, b/c Santa didn't forget me! Weldie got some things too, mainly a doggie life jacket (lol). He loves to swim in the lake, but I worry he gets tired and won't quit. So his "grandparents" bought him a life jacket to use. He was a good boy and let me put it on him too. He was a cutie!!
We got to stop in El Dorado on the way down to see my sis and her family. She was quite surprised and glad to see us (i think)! The kids were adorable as usual, and makes us wish each time that they lived closer to us. It's sad not getting to see my family at all for Christmas, especially knowing that my parents were by themselves. Hopefully, it will cheer them up next weekend tho, when we're ALL there (except for my brother and his fam).
Well, must go for now. No after Christmas sales for us, b/c I might kill someone if i attempt to get out in the crowd. Hapy New Year everyone. I'll update later!!
jill and weldie

Ramblings

Well, i decided to post again today. I kinda forgot until I flipped the channel to Felicity. (my life is sad) :P
Anyway, we're getting ready to go to LA for Christmas. Josh's sister lives there, but she's in an apt. So, we'll be sleeping in a hotel, but luckily they'll let us have Weldie. Christmas wouldn't be as good w/out him. Again, my life is sad.
I read Shandra's post today about Christmas and how FAST it has gotten here. I agree 100%. It seems to get faster every year. I wonder if it's b/c we're getting older. It also seems harder to "get into the spirit". I also wonder about this. But then I was watching E! tv and saw some interview with another self-indulging, not near as smart as they like to think they are, celebrity and actually heard something thought provoking. She said that Christmas finally feels like Christmas again since she had a child. Hmmmm......hopefully I'll be able to confirm that by next Christmas....
Josh and I are taking one of my clients out to lunch tomorrow before we leave. He has no family, and of course is very poor. I couldn't stand the thought of him being alone this weekend. It should be fun. He wants to eat at Brown's country buffet. Yeah, we'll see how that tastes....

I guess that's all for now. I doubt I'll post again til after Christmas. So, in spite of all the "political correct" CRAP that is going on these days - Merry CHRISTmas everyone. My prayer is that we will all again feel the actual Spirit of Christmas in the midst of the excessive materialism that we are all guilty of this year.
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!!
j2

YEP, I'm a sucker

Well, I've become one of the "coffee-house-computer-blogger- nuts-and-grain" people who have nothing better to do than post thoughts on the website for complete strangers to read. Oh well! My wonderful Texan sister-in-law talked me into it. However, I thought I'd originally wait til I became a stay-at-home mom like her and all my other friends (well, except Ange who's actually career driven unlike me). But then I remembered all the useless time I spend in the evenings watching Friends and Felicity reruns while Josh is at work. I know - I know - I should be spending time wisely, like doing something at church. But until then, cyberspace gets my useless thoughts. So, welcome to my world! Enjoy!
